Cingular Wireless and Nokia announced the new Nokia 9300 smartphone, an EDGE capable device with BlackBerry Connect. This makes Cingular the sole US carrier to launch BlackBerry services on a 3rd party handset via BlackBerry Connect licensing program from RIM.

The Nokia 9300 is slated for a November release through Cingular.

Being EDGE capable, the Nokia 9300 is in a unique position to provide a lot of functionality to the power user, combining PDA functions, phone, web, and now BlackBerry Connect. Although it looks like a 'normal' phone on the outside, opening it reveals a full-featured QWERTY keyboard for fast text input. The wide, 64k color screen means a never-before web browsing experience on a mobile phone. The tri-band (850/1800/1900) phone runs the immensely popular Symbian OS and has Bluetooth capabilities.

If you are the type who loves Nokia and would not trade it for a BlackBerry model, then this phone is definitely for you. You will always be within easy reach of your company mail (whether it's a good thing or bad thing is for you to decide!).

BlackBerry Enterprise Server allows synchronized access to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino users with not only corporate e-mail access but a wide range of features like calendar, address book backup and attachment-viewing capabilities in a secure environment. In case the phone is stolen, an administrator can remotely delete the data as well.

The Nokia 9300 will be available in the US through its direct B2B sales beginning November. Cingular will offer the Nokia 9300 for $299.99 with a two-year contract and after $50 mail-in rebate. Customers can choose from either a $44.99 BlackBerry unlimited data plan or a $34.99 4Mb BlackBerry data plan.

More info is available on Cingular's website.
