Nintendo DS LiteAll those waiting for an upgrade to the Nintendo DS can relax: Nintendo announced that it will be releasing a new, slimmer version of the popular console, and will be called the (surprise, surprise) Nintendo DS Lite.

Well, I hope it's not "lite" on features. The Lite will come in a sleeker 33.0 x 73.9 x 21.5 mm package weighing 218 grams. While I wouldn't necessarily call it perfect, it's a start. And when the price is attractive enough, I'd definitely give it a shot.

Apparently, the controls have had some make-overs as well, changing in size and location on the console. Expect the dual screens to measure the same size, but brighter than the original DS. Possible pricing is around US $145 although this is not yet confirmed, and as usual the Japanese will be the first to get their hands on it: as early as March this year.
