Rumors originating from Taiwan hint that Apple may possibly release updated MacBooks in September using the latest Intel Merom processor. The Merom processor is the mobile version of the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors and would bring significant performance increases to the mobile platform as well as support for 64 bit instructions. The recently announced Mac Pro is currently the only Apple Mac with a 64 bit Intel processor inside so it's not hard to imagine Apple jumping onto the latest Intel mobile processor when it does come out.
