NEC Versa S950NEC UK have announced a new laptop, If you were expecting the NEC Versa S950 to come with the bells and whistles notebook technology, you are going to be disappointed. What the Versa S950 does offer is a balance between price and performance - especially for businesses.

The NEC Versa S950 could turn out to be a winner in the corporate segment because it offers a range of anti-theft measures. You have the standard Kensington lock mechanism, a fingerprint security mechanism, a Kensington anti-theft cable, a TPM chip, and a Stoptrack anti-theft protection label. To round it up, it also comes with NEC’s Safeboot software.

On the hardware front, the S950 comes with the Intel Centrino processor platform, supports DDR2 533MHz SDRAM, has a 14" display, connects via an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (802.11 b/g), Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth, V.92 modem, USB 2.0, FireWire, and InfraRed, and an optional dual-layer DVD writer. It weighs just 2 kgs and NEC claims a battery life of 6 hours.

It's available in the United Kingdom through NEC's channel partners. Prices start from £699. Lets hope it doesn't come here.
