While NEC may have not garnered the same kind of respect akin to the Nokias and Sony Ericsson's of the world, one can't help but admire their attempts! Last couple of months have seen the company coming up with some great looking affordable handsets with a feature set to die for! The upcoming NEC N6207 is no different and has now received the blessings of the Almighty FCC.

The NEC 6207 looks pretty groovy with its ultra-chic design and the cool color black/orange scheme. However its not just a pretty package and has features like; a touch-screen display,1.3-megapixel with video capture, full multimedia capabilities like music and video player, built-in and Java games, WAP browser, USB, Bluetooth (modem/disk) among others. No word on pricing or availability but it will be US bound soon.

Available in brilliant colors including white, blue and orange, the NEC N903i features a no-nonsense UI. The LCD offers a 480x690 pixel resolution, so it is very easy on the eyes when viewing images or documents on the phone.

Image enhancements for photos taken with the N903i are possible thanks to PictMagic: you can adjust white balance, scale, beautify the color and more. Plus the camera supports auto-focus.

No word on the pricing, but it should be out soon.

Granted NEC is not in the same league as Nokia or Motorola but they do come up with some great looking handsets! The company just unveiled the FOMA N902iX HSDPA Mobile Phone at the CEATEC 2006 which not only looks hip but also has some great features onboard!

The FOMA N902iX HSDPA handset can access and download content at mind-boggling speed up to 3.6Mbps via NTT DoCoMo. Thus users can take full advantage of services like Music Channel where one can download pre-selected music from the web. Another cool service is 'i-motion' service' via which one can stream video clips of up to 5MB.

Sporting a smart clamshell design, the N902iX is available in colors combos like black/gray and a very hot red/black. The handset is not just another pretty face and has a 4 megapixel camera under its pretty hood! There is also a 0.33 megapixel camera for video telephony and the anti-shake features combats blurry images! It has music capabilities and comes equipped with a miniSD card slot and a 2.5-inch QVGA. No word on pricing or availability.

NEC's N3306 cell phone just got the FCC's seal of approval. The N3306 is a GSM phone supporting T-Flash/microSD memory cards. It features a dedicated MP3 music player access key on the front of the device, apart from a camera key on the side.

Input is via a stylus and the phone boasts of handwriting recognition as well. You can also find a basic WAP browser on the phone, as it supports GPRS for getting online.

Thanks to Java support, you can also enjoy games on the phone. No word on pricing or availability yet.

A week ago, we told you that NEC was planning something big at the 3GSM World Congress. Well, NEC has just come out with an official statement saying so.

The product in the spotlight is NEC's new ultra-thin cell phone, the N500iS. The N500iS is reported to be the world's thinnest 2.5g fold-type camera-phone. It's 2mm thinner than the Motorola v3. A quick read of the specifications says:

HSDPA? Ever heard of that one? well if you follow the Whack! then yes you have, It stands for High Speed Downlink Packet Access and it's a new data service being offered this time by NEC and NTT. It should be up and running in the second quarter of 2006.

Speeds on this service will reach up to 3.6 Mbps. That's about 10 times what it is currently with NTT's FOMA service. The whole solution will be on display at the 3GSM World Congress scheduled to be held in Barcelona from February 13 - 16th, 2006.

Featuring GPRS, you also get a WAP 2.0 browser with the e122. A USB data cable is provided, but I don't see much use of it.

The e353, on the other hand, is a 3G phone and is quite small at that. With two cameras (one 3 megapixel, one 1 megapixel) you can also make video calls. Other goodies include Bluetooth support, USB cable and an integrated MP3 player.

Today NEC announced it Nec e949 Cell Phone, it is the thinnest phone in the world and it will soon be available in Hong Kong Following, Italy, Russia, Australia and China.

Nec have got a new cell phone in the works called the Nec L1, it's super thin, so thin in fact that it takes the title as the thinnest phone in the world, it's thinner than the Samsung Blade and the Motorola Razr.
