Mylo Personal Communicator by Sony
It was just a matter of time, before Sony jumped into the wi-fi communicator bandwagon. The company recently unveiled its first WiFi broadband communication and entertainment device, the Sony Mylo. As you can see from the picture, the Mylo is one trendy device which will surely appeal to teens and adults alike! The fact that it can operate any open 802.11b wireless network will also go down will with college kids and office goers.
The Sony Mylo Personal communicator is perfect for those who use instant messaging for communicating as it includes all popular IM services like Google Talk(TM) instant messaging service, Skype and Yahoo! Messenger(TM). Mylo stands for my life online" and looks like the device takes it name seriously as it lets one IM, browse the Internet, listen to music, send emails and view photos. Thanks to the embedded HTML browser one can browse any websites quickly and via Yahoo!(R) Mail and the Gmail(TM) web mail, send and receive emails. Oh and the device also comes with the Skype(TM) software, which means that you make free Internet calls!
The Sony Mylo has a very funky design and is compact enough to fit in a pocket or a purse. It sports a 2.4 inch color LCD (measured diagonally) and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Users can choose from either a Black or White model and the onboard 1GB memory will keep all you music addicts happy. The communicator supports formats like MP3, ATRAC(R) or WMA (secure and unsecure) files and one can also listen to music via the built-in speaker. Other supported files include MPEG-4 and JPEG pictures.
Transferring of files can be done either by using a USB cable or a Memory Stick Duo(TM) media. The Mylo uses a lithium-ion battery which is capable of 45 hours of music playback and seven hours of chatting and web surfing and more than three hours of continuous Skype talk time. The communicator comes bundled with a microphone, stereo headphones, a USB cable and a neoprene case. The Sony Mylo should be available by September and would retail for around $350.
