My MacBook Review
After months of contemplating I finally gave into temptation and bit the Apple! For me its goodbye Windows and Hello Mac and am I glad I made the move! While the whole world knows how superior Mac is, unfortunately the MacBook doesn’t have the same reputation and since its inception has been plagued by problems from Random Shut Downs, to Heat issues to even surreal problems like Discoloration.
I bought a White Base Model of the MacBook which according to the Serial No, was made in week 36. For the uninitiated all MacBooks after week 34 don’t suffer from the above problems. So how does this baby perform? Well read on!
It was love at first sight between my 1.83 GHz MacBook and me and after lugging an ugly Celeron notebook for months, this one was a relief! I was charmed by the ergonomics of the MacBook, which looks like a high end machine and not cheap like the iBook. However since I do suffer from healthy bouts of paranoia at times, I was prepared for all sorts of MacBook problems which never really happened.
It boots up really quick and there are no issues when running memory-hogging applications. I haven’t upgraded the RAM as of now and even the 512MB RAM does its job well! The sweet spot? The glossy screen no doubt, which is ultra sharp. The notebook also has a great wireless card and was able to detect my home Wi-Fi in seconds. Battery gives about 4 hours of back up and I have no complaints. People have talked about the unusual keyboard on the MacBook. I personally love it and was able to get the hang of it in 2 hours.
No notebook is perfect and the MacBook does have its faults. I hate the track pad though I have gotten use to it. Another feature, which I don’t like, is that when you close the lid, the notebook goes to sleep meaning it’s in a suspension state and even loses the net connection. This is quite irritating say if you want to download stuff overnight. The only way to get rid of this feature is by using a 3rd party application called Sleepless. Another gripe I have is that the white MacBook palm rest really gets dirty!
Conclusion: So do I recommend the MacBook? Yes I do but please think what you want the MacBook for. For its price the MacBook holds up against any high-end notebook and once you use this machine going back to Windows is tough! However do check the serial number before buying a MacBook and make sure they are made after week 34.

Stumble It!
