moto_w220.jpgMotorola unveiled its new mass-market phone, the Motorola W220. This was announced at the 3GSM happening right now in Barcelona. The MotoW220 sports an FM radio and will be highly affordable.

The Motorola W220 provides a 600-entry phonebook and an interesting large font capability. Now while I'm not sure what it exactly is, I hope it has something to do with changing dynamically the fonts on the phone, so they are more readable. That'd be something cool.

You are greeted by a 128x128 pixel color screen, and the phone itself is pretty lightweight - just 93 grams. Thanks to enhanced battery life, you get nearly 497 minutes of talki time (Motorola's claims, not mine anyway) and 293 hours of standby.

Targeted at emerging markets, other features on the Motorola W220 include:

• Entertainment on-the-go with built-in FM radio
• Browser WAP 2.0 Compliant
• Downloadable media: Wallpapers, Ringtones and Games*
• Large, vibrant color screen - 128x128 CSTN display
• Messaging Services: MMS, SMS and NSM*
• Lantern

Look for it in Q3 2006. More details are available from Motorola's website. We will try to get more detailed specs on this one from Motorola, stay tuned.
