Motorola Q Smartphone

Motorola's Q model, which was supposed to hit the European market last December, has been delayed again. There's a lot of confusion surrounding this story. A few sources claim that Motorola has in fact confirmed the cancellation of the Q model and that Motorola is believed to be on the verge of introducing the new Q smartphone in lieu.

The RAZR-thin Q smartphone is slated to run on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 and will be optimized for use with Microsoft Exchange 2003. It's as thin as you can get - just 11.5 mm. The 65K TFT display complements a 1.3 megapixel camera with photo-lighting. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, IrDA, and mini-USB. The Q smartphone can playback most of the popular audio and video formats. A highlight of the Q smartphone is its advanced speech recognition facility.

The official word on the product's website claims that the Q smarphone will be launched in Q1 of 2006. Nothing's certain yet.

(Update 26th Jan) - I did a bit of investigating into this rumor, Motorola said this:

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your great feedback and interest in Motorola! As for the story, Motorola does not comment on rumor or speculation.

Speak to you soon.

Best,

Jennifer - Motorola

So basically they are giving us nothing here, anyway I have a feeling that this is just a rumor and Motorola will eventually role this product out. But as we are always on the ball we have to follow up stuff like this.
