Camera maker Minox is pushing against its line once again with its new Volkswagen-designed DMP-3 media player, a successor to the DMP-2 and DMP-1. This multi-talent yet high-tech compact gadget is not just a MPEG4 video player and AV-recorder but also a digital photo album, MP3 player, voice recorder, media explorer and USB memory storage. With the built-in microphone and internal stereo speaker, recording or playback of MP3/WMA is not a problem. Also films can be recorded directly from a TV or DVD onto the tiny device via the AV in ports (NTSC/PAL).

Video is recorded at VGA resolutions of 640 x 480 @ 30 fps or another choice of 320 x 240 resolutions @ 30 fps. If you want to record your music into the device, you have choices of recording at CD quality (48KHz) or radio-quality (16KHz), the files then will be converted into MP3 formats for clearer playback. During playback time, the sound can be adjusted with an integrated equalizer. The picture print out features supports for DPOF (digital print order format) and image playback with two modes: single/index (preview) and printing. The supported file formats for DSC is JPEG (EXIF 2.2), DV is ASF, Voice recorder is WAV and music file formats are MP3 and WMA (without DRM file support).

DMP-3 sports a large 2.5-inch LTPS TFT LCD with resolutions of 960 x 240 pixels, built-in 128MB of flash memory with SD/MMC memory card slot for extra storage and 4-in-1 earphone jack that includes Video-out, Earphone Jack, External Microphone and AV in. It functions as a removable memory device and you can transfer your file between your computer and DMP-3 via the 2-in-1 miniUSB (USB 2.0 and Power In). Upon fully charged of the powerful Li-ion battery, DMP-3 could last up to 3 continuous hours of video playback. It weights 69 grams with the size of 90 x 68 x 16mm. We are not sure about the pricing and availability yet.
