"Military grade" Recon-X Linux PDA
We had just discuss about the military-style phone few days ago and now, here comes the "Military Grade" Linux PDA from Tripod Data System (TDS). It's actually just an upgrade version of TDS new line of Recon series of rugged handheld computers. The process of running Linux platform on it is still under beta testing and they will only start shipping end of July or early August. The new Recon-X series is available in two different models. The recon 200X features a 200MHz XScale processor and 128MB of Flash memory while the Recon 400X features a 400MHz processor and 256MB of Flash memory. Other new features include a built-in microphone, a redesigned keypad, built-n Bluetooth and 802.11g Wi-Fi. The good thing is the display is sunlight-readable color TFT with resolutions of 240 x 320. It's tough and that's why it is called military grade PDA! It meet the MIL-STD-810F standard for drops, vibration, extreme temperature, slash proof and dust proof. No words on the pricing yet.
