zune_triple_1.jpgThe Zune is no doubt the most talked about product this week and for Microsoft sake, hope that this one lives up to the hype. Initials reviews of the Zune are already doing the rounds and we here at the Whack thought to make your life simpler by doing a Review Round Up. Don't you just love us??

Gizmodo
- Let's start by gauging Gizmodo opinion as its always healthy to start on a positive note! To them the Zune is "promising" and they couldn't help but dig the "double-shot effect" and the cool intuitive user interface. To the folks at Gizmodo using Zune was fun and they were impressed by both audio as well as video playback. Gizmodo is pretty happy with the Zune and doesn't have anything negative to say about the Zune, which oughta surprise many people!

Engadget - The folks at Engadget take a more pragmatic approach and list both pros and cons of the Zune. However if Gizmdo was all praises about the Zune, Engadget gives it a 'not recommended tag'! They appreciate points like; the soft-touch matte finish, the double-shot look, the magnetic earphones and the sound quality which is as good as the iPod. However after that, its all downhill and Engadget pans the Zune for its 3 Day/ 3 Song Capabilities. They found the interface at times frustrating and noticed that the software keeps crashing on installation that the Zune also hogs a lot of memory! Thus Engadget feels one need to wait a while before jumping on the Zune bandwagon.

WSJ Online - Another Zune review was done by WSJ who still feel iPod is the 'champ' ! The Zune was given brownie points for features like its large screen, its built in FM Radio, its wireless capabilities and its Synchronization feature. However to them the Zune's Achilles Heel was the hardware which they thought was "rushed", its battery life which was disappointing and the Zune Marketplace is pretty frustrating.

CNN - Here is a Video Review and looks like the guy just loves the iPod hands down. He pretty much ends up bashing Zune and hate it for its clunky feel, its useless wireless capabilities and its 3 Song-3 Day Set Up. However he does appreciate it for the FM Radio!

MY 2 Cents- As you can see, the Zune is invoking mixed responses in the tech world and many have taken a love it or hate approach! Since we here at the Whack believe in the Middle Path, we recommend visiting the nearest store and checking it out for yourself!
