Microsoft SyncToy - sync your files across systems
Do you own a laptop and a desktop PC at home? Ever struggle with synchronizing data between two different systems? Well Microsoft has apparently released a new PowerToy called "SyncToy" which simplies the process of syncing files and data.
SyncToy is a free add on (as are all of Microsoft's PowerToys) to a Windows XP system. You tell the application which two folders to work on and it will offer you five different sync methods. You can have one folder sync with another folder or you can sync both folders at the same time. SyncToy can also preview the changes before they are made just in case you don't really want to go forward with the synchronization.
The best feature of SyncToy is the cost of course - it's FREE. How can this help laptop users? Just share your folders over the network and then use SyncToy to sync the data between a desktop directory and a laptop directory. The application will work with network shared folders.
