Microsoft unveiled the LifeCam NX-6000, its first webcam designed exclusively for laptop use. Optimized for use with Windows Live Messenger (what did you expect, Google Talk?), the LifeCam NX-6000 offers the highest resolution video at 2 megapixels.

What's more, the NX-6000 can also take digital stills at 7.6 megapixels (interpolated) resolution. Designed for mobility and durability, the LifeCam's lens is retractable - and it goes into hiding when the webcam is not in use.

For audio, the LifeCam NX-6000 includes a unidirectional microphone for CD-like quality. The base provided with the webcam lets you fix the NX-6000 on most laptop screens.

The Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000 carries a price tag of US $99.99 and will be available starting November 2006.
