Mamiya ZD 22-Megapixel DSLR

mamiyazd.jpgMore than a year ago Mamiya announced the existance of a 22 megapixel digital SLR the Mamiya ZD but nothing was heard about it since. Yesterday however, the company announced that they would be accepting pre-orders in Japan for what they claim is the world's first integrated medium format digital SLR camera.

"Utilizing Mamiya's exclusive 14-bit A/D (Analog to Digital) converter, the 12-bit images are recorded at 1.5 fps, making it the fastest digital medium format camera. With its CF and SD storage options, built-in 1.8 inch LCD imaging preview screen and tethered FireWire® (IEEE1394) to Mamiya Digital Photo Studio software it provides the prefect solution for studio and/or on-location shoots." Japanese photography professionals can now pre-odrer the camera and can expect it before Christmas. This 22-megapixel wonder is selling for about $10,844.
