roadmate-2500t-404.jpgAfter the 2000 and the 2200T lets now look at the RoadMate 2500t GPS navigation system which starts where the 2200T left and is the high end model (also read expensive) of the 2500T. The new RoadMate 2500T is also built on the CrossOver GPS principle and thus can be taken on road, on water and of course on foot!

The Magellan RoadMate 2500T navigational device includes street-level maps for the entire United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. However this is not where it ends as the GPS device also includes topographic contour maps for off-road and outdoor activities which were amiss in the previous two models. Via the topographic contour maps one is able to access vital information like waypoints, routes, backtrack etc. One can also save outdoor maps like marine cartography and navaids on an optional SD memory card.

The RoadMate 2500T also seeks to provide some good old entertainment on all those long trips by its onboard MP3 player and photo viewer. The system includes a lanyard hook and comes bundled with a Sports Guard(TM) sleeve which helps in securing the device safely and preventing it from falling during bumpy rides or treacherous hikes. The Magellan RoadMate 2500T would retail for around $549 and should see a December release.

The Magellan RoadMate 2500T builds on the features found in the Magellan RoadMate 2200T by delivering the first out-of-the-box CrossoverGPS capabilities. It will provide multiple navigation applications with pre-loaded street-level maps for the entire United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, plus pre-loaded topographic contour maps for off-road and outdoor activities so users can create and go to waypoints, plan routes, backtrack, and more. In addition, users can add other compatible outdoor maps, such as marine cartography and navaids, via optional SD memory cards. The Magellan RoadMate 2500T also provides the option to add real-time traffic capabilities and offers an MP3 player and photo viewer. The system weighs 8.5 ounces, has a lanyard hook and ships with a Sports Guard(TM) sleeve for easy gripping and protection on a muddy trail or a drizzly ride in an open vehicle. Available in time for the holidays, the Magellan RoadMate 2500T will be in North American retail outlets this December at $549.
"T" stands for Traffic
Real-time traffic services for the Magellan RoadMate 2500T and 2200T will be available in late 2006. The Magellan TrafficKit(TM) receiver processes real-time traffic information and displays icons on the Magellan RoadMate map screen to show traffic jams and conditions that impede the normal flow of traffic, such as lane reductions, road construction and accidents. Drivers can choose to see all or specific types of incidents, and can learn details about each by touching the associated icon on the screen. Drivers can also choose to automatically be rerouted around traffic or to receive traffic alerts for information only.
