The Magellan RoadMate series has got a couple of new members and let’s see what they are all about. First in line is the Magellan RoadMate 2000 GPS which should hit the shelves by the end of this month and shall appeal to the masses thanks to its compact form factor (4.3" x 3.4" x 1.1" and 7.8 oz)

The Magellan RoadMate 2000 GPS lives up to the Magellan name and has the Serf star III chipset under its hood. This one is both pocket-friendly and user friendly and thus care has been taken to make the touch screen menu as easy as possible. It has all the features which we expect from a decent navigational device including’ extensive maps of the US and Canada, 1.5 million points of interest (POI), 4 routing options and Bird's eye" 3D view among others.

Another nifty feature is the integrated battery which eliminates the need of a power chord and ones doesn’t need to lug around the power supply along their trips. The rechargeable battery gives 3 hours of continuous usage and there is also a SD card slot which is no doubt a great addition. For a more interactive experience the RoadMate 2000 consists of Interactive POI icons and also includes Turn-by-turn voice and visual guidance, SmartDetour which automatically takes another route when the traffic is not moving and Quick Spell.
