The Lowrance iWay 600C is the latest GPS device to come from the stables of Lowrance.This one isn’t your run of the mill GPS unit as it’s the first of its kind to combine both street-ready and marine-ready navigation. Thus Lowrance promises another top notch product which includes not only road maps but also charting for inland and coastal waters with depth contours!

Like all the current crop of GPS units, this one too sports a high resolution 5 inch touch-screen display with a host of multimedia functions. The onboard 30GB internal hard drive is loaded with maps and highly accurate NAVTEQ® turn-by-turn database for the continental U.S. and Canada, including more than 5.5 million points-of-interest. Those who prefer the waters will also dig the MapCreate™ shoreline feature with over 3,000 Enhanced U.S. Lake Maps with depth contours for inland waters, in addition to NauticPath™ charts for lakes and coastal U.S. waters with depth contours, navaids, port services, tide/current data etc.

The company has made 5GB of disk storage available, so that one can store multimedia content like MP3 and Ogg Vorbis formats. One can transfer music via the onboard USB port and cable provided and one requires a PC Windows® XP, ME and 2000, or Macintosh OS X. Music lovers will love the music mode as it provides easy navigation via the touch-screen button and slider controls and includes frequency spectrum analyzer display. Apart from the entertainment functions, the iWay 600c provides accurate data thanks to the built-in receiver/antenna which tracks both 12-parallel channel GPS and WAAS signals and updates the position every other second.

The turn by turn mode not only helps the motorists to locate his destination of choice in 2D and 3D but also provides the shortest possible route. If you miss a turn, the unit has been designed to quickly re-route and put you back to track. During Marine Mode it provides straight-line navigation and features special icons which represent favorite spots on the water and other information.
