Logitech ioTagsEver went to a meeting, took down a lot of important tasks and dates, and just plain forgot to add a couple of them in your Outlook calendar?

Well, the Logitech ioTags is tailor-made for you! This is a software feature update to Logitech's io2 Digital Writing System that allows users to tag the handwritten text with pre-defined symbols that identify tasks, dates and e-mail.

Once the pen is docked to your desktop, the tagged portions are automatically converted to text and imported into MS Outlook or Lotus Notes.

No matter how many portable devices you have, nothing is as easy and handy as a notebook and pen. Be it meetings or classrooms, you invariably use them to quickly take down notes. And now, with ioTags, you are saving an additional step of transfering them to your desktop. Not only are you saving time, but you are also making sure that everything you noted down is transferred.

To give you an example of how the tagging works:
The tag itself is a symbol that you prefix your writing with. The letter E with a circle around it identifies that the following text is to be imported as an e-mail; the letter T with a circle around it identifies a task - and so on.

The symbol is followed by a header; in case of an e-mail, it could be the recipient. Following that would be the body of the message. To indicate to the ioTags software the lenght of the content, all you have to do is draw a vertical line from the symbol till the end of your content.

As soon as you dock the pen to your desktop, ioTags identifies the tags and creates appropriate tasks, calendar entries and e-mails. It also stores the handwritten text as a digital pen file.

ioTags comes with another goodie: a plug-in for Google Desktop Search. This allows the user to search for handwritten notes with GDS, which is much faster than searching around MS Outlook or your Inbox.

This update is available for new and existing io2 Digital Writing System users, at Logitech's website.

Priced at $199, I feel this is worth the investment if you are my type (i.e. forgetful).
