One of the great dangers of using GPS systems is their distractive nature. After all, a driver who is lost may be so concentrating on his GPS window that he loses track of the most important thing: the road. It looks like LG has solved the problem with the release of the LAN-SD460, a GPS with steering wheel controls.

I suppose it was bound to happen. After all, if you can adjust your radio’s volume from your steering wheel, why not the GPS? And this GPS allows you to adjust the volume, channel, and zoom without taking your hands off the wheel. Just don’t get distracted by the large 4.1 screen on the display itself.

It looks like this device will be marketed in Japan. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if the steering wheel controls were made on other GPS devices made and marketed in the United States.
