Chocolate is supposed to be aphrodisiac and LG also got its groove back by releasing the high stylized and chic Chocolate Phone! Tempting , smooth and alluring are some of the words that come to the mind when you look at the LG Chocolate Series! The handset has already achieved superstar status overseas and has sold more than 1.7 million units worldwide! In fact the American version of the LG phone , the VX8500 is also touted to be a runaway hit and thus we have decided to do a review round up of the LG VX8500 and see what the general consensus is.

Cnet - Let’s look at what the folks at Cnet are saying about this mouth-watering phone (what can I say I am sucker for design!). The website appreciate the inclusion of features like Bluetooth, a digital music player, and a megapixel camera. They are relieved that it’s just not a pretty face and were quite satisfied with the overall performance. The Phone’s Achilles Heel? The new and unique controls which would take time in getting use to, poor battery life and video performance. Also the phone lacks a speakerphone which is quite unpardonable for a phone of its stature!

Mobiledia – Like all of us they are also stunned by the aesthetic design and think it’s a perfect fashionable phone with some great features like 1.3-megapixel camera, music player, EV-DO and Bluetooth, and Flash-based UI. The website like Cnet are also stunned by the exclusion of a speaker phone and hoped that there was camera flash too. Price was also seen as another deterrent!

Phone Arena - The website doesn’t deviate much from the first two reviews and give brownie points to the VX8500 for its crystal clear display and its new and improved FlashUI Menus. They were also visibly impressed by the handset’s sound and voice quality and were glad that there is an internal antenna! Lack of speakerphone and Bluetooth profiles were found amiss. The review also points out that the Touch-Sensitive keys are a little too sensitive and the numerical buttons are too small!

PC Mag - By now almost all reviews are singing the same tune and PC Mag is no different. The handset grows on them despite the lack of a speakerphone. To them the LG Chocolate phone is a worthy successor to the RAZR and love it for its MP3 support, stereo Bluetooth and memory card slot.

Mobile Burn – The Phone made a horrible first impression on the website and the over sensitive touch controls were found to be a major irritant! They also think the menu system was horrid ! But all is not lost as the handset was liked for its 3G data speeds and the audio quality!

Lets Talk – Lets Talk also talks about the handset and think that the exclusion of the speakerphone may keep some users at bay. This one is purely for the fashion conscious mobile user and one needs to think hard before jumping on the Chocolate bandwagon.

My 2 Cents- No handset is perfect and the VX8500 is no different. To me it’s a great alternative to the RAZR and offers some great nifty features! However by excluding a speakerphone LG has committed professional hara-kiri ! Thus it’s a perfect handset for those who just use their phones for basic functions and like their gadgets trendy!
