The D-LUX 3 has a very appealing minimalist design and is available in a black or sliver finished body. It is also equipped with a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT 1:2.8-4.9/6.3-25.2 ASPH zoom lens. Thanks to the wide aperture range one can indulge in both Wide angle and Telephoto photography and ISO Settings range from 80-400. For top notch image quality the company has also outfitted the camera with an image stabilization engine.

The LUX 3 has three picture formats (16:9, 3:2 and 4:3) and the new and improved image signal processor results in faster image processing and better functionality. Via the onboard 2.8 inch LCD one is able to view the full image in 16:9 formats without any hassles according to Leica. It supports RAW and Quick Time formats. Movies can be captured in 16:9 Aspect Ratio or 4:3 Aspect Ratio formats and Scene Modes include Portrait, Sport, Night-time landscape, Night-time portrait, Fireworks, Party, and Snow and so on.

The camera has onboard memory of 64 MB and supports SD Cards too. It is PictBridge compatible and draws it juice from a Li-ion battery. Color Modes include Color Effect Mode Cool, Warm, Black & White, Sepia and White Balance settings include; Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Shade, Halogen, Flash etc. The camera comes bundled with, a battery charger, a powerful rechargeable battery and a comprehensive software package (Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 (PC)/3.0 (Mac), Quicktime Movie Player).
