Land Rover LR2
Land Rover has unleashed its new SUV, the LR2 a right mix of style, performance and all the latest technologies out there. As it comes from the prestigious stables of Media Ford no one really needs to doubt the LR2 credibility. Gone are the days when SUV’s were big on performance and small on comfort. The LR2 amalgamates a comfort of a sedan and a performance of a SUV. So now you can hit all those rough terrains without the ride ever getting bumpy!
The LR2 has a 230bhp* transversely mounted 3.2-liter inline-six engine which in conjunction with the new six-speed automatic transmission makes it one smooth ride. However those whole like to be in control can use the Land Rover's CommandShift(TM) offering manual sequential gear changes. To make things interesting the makers have also incorporated a sport mode! The body is one tough cookie and the SUV includes a five door design. The suspension according to the makers is top notch and the Roll Stability Control technology makes the SUV more stable and hence safer.
For the complete experience Land Rover on and off road has incorporated all the latest technologies out there like Terrain Response which makes navigation the SUV easier off-road. Some other technologies found include intelligent permanent all-wheel-drive system for finer traction and improved on-road fuel economy, and the proprietary Gradient Release Control, which assist the driver releasing the brakes on steep and slippery slopes. "LR2 combines the advantages of a premium sedan -- such as polished ride, accomplished performance, an attractive cabin and ease-of-use -- with the attributes of a robust SUV, including go-anywhere ability, toughness, stadium seating, cabin versatility and spaciousness," says Phil Popham, Land Rover's managing director. "We believe that no other compact SUV gets closer to blending these best-of-both-worlds abilities."
"We purposely kept strong Land Rover design cues, such as the clamshell bonnet, stepped roof and the basic form," says Land Rover design director Geoff Upex. "The overall look is new and contemporary. The design is chiseled, geometric and simple -- it looks like it's hewn from the solid. We have kept a close design relationship with the LR3 and Range Rover Sport, but interpreted the design language to suit the requirements of customers for a more compact SUV."
