    JVC GR-D650 MiniDV Camcorder

    JVC GR-D650 MiniDV Camcorder

JVC announced a new MiniDV camcorder from its stables in Japan, the GR-D650, that employs a 2-megapixel CCD, an F1.2 lens capable of 15x optical zoom available in a slim design. The perfect companion for taking kids' videos, the GR-D650 is available in baby-colors.

With a F1.2 lens, the GR-D650 provides for bright images both when taking digital still images and videos. When shooting videos, the camera moves the focal length to telephoto by changing the used-area of the CCD. The camera can also expand the image pick-up area of the CCD in left and right directions - great for wide images.

When the LCD is closed, power supplied to it is cut off, but when it is flipped open it is moved to stand-by state - ready for taking photographs. To catch the complete action when your child is playing, the GR-D650 provides a live slow setting for capturing slow-motion action in your videos. The "Mega Bu lid" (not sure of the translation here!) high-quality picture engine ensures great image quality.

Accessories include a wireless remote control, lens cap, shoulder strap and PC connectivity kit (CD, USB cable). Pricing is not yet available, but details can be had at JVC's website.

JVC's new lineup of Mini DV Camcorders (GR-D395, GR-D396 and GR-D650)

jvc_logo.jpgJVC, has unveiled five new models JVC MiniDV camcorder line, offering advancements in performance and handling. We missed out on the other three models from the new line-up of the Mini DV camcorders. Lets take a closer look at the other three camcorder models unveiled by JVC, GR-D395, GR-D396 and GR-D650, camcorder models. Like the D350 and the D370 models, which has already got a mention in our site, the other three models also comes with a 32X optical zoom, 16:9 modes and a built-in tele-conversion lens. JVC has made a conscious effort to make sure that the customers should find it easy to handle the camcorders. With the new Auto button, users can easily sswitch between manual and automatic operations, making it easier to use than ever. And also the models feature a new on-screen menu system that sorts menu layers by category, making operation easier. Lets take a closer look at the three models here.

    JVC GR-D395:
It offers features such as such as a data battery that displays time remaining with and without LCD use; live slow, which records in slow motion while retaining real-time audio; JVC’s Auto Illumi-Light for illuminating dark scenes; Power-Linked operation that turns on the power and puts the Samsung GR D395 in standby mode simply by opening the LCD; and the company’s Clear LCD Monitor that delivers a bright, clear image by reducing reflection and glares, even in bright sunlight

    JVC GR-D396:
The D396 more or less offers the same features that we find in the D395 camcorder. But what distinguishes the two is the battery , as it comes with two 90-minute BN-VF707 batteries and just a touch expensive when compared to the D395 camcorder.

    JVC GR-D650:
This Camcorder is probably the cream of the new Mini DV camcorders from JVC. It is powered by a built-in 1.3X tele-conversion lens and JVC’s Low Light Plus – combining an F1.2 lens with the company’s 3D noise reduction that reduces visible video noise by approximately 30 percent and delivers superior low light performance. Also it incorporates a MegaBird Engine.

Take a look at the extended entry for price, availability and complete list of specifications of all the three models mentioned. www.jvc.com.

JVC Everio GZ-MG77 / 67 Hard Disk Camcorders

JVC GZ-MG77 Hard Disk CamcorderMore hard disk based camcorders flooding into the market, this time from JVC Victor. Makes you wonder why these companies even came out with DVD camcorders only to phase them out. The JVC Victor Everio GZ camcorders come in two flavors:
    1. THe MG67 with 20GB hard disk space
    2. The MG77 with 30GB hard disk space

For heaven's sake, why can't they just launch the 30GB model? Both models feature a direct-DVD function, using which you can burn your recordings on to a DVD. You do need to purchase a separate DVD-writer though. The hard disk is protected from bumps using a shock absorbing gel layer around the drive and with a 3D acceleration sensor. The Everio can function as a 2 megapixel still camera. I suspect that they can take in an external SD card as well. The Everio is quite compact weighing in at 370 grams.

Sales start in Japan from the 1st of March. Pricing is yet to be announced. Should be selling in the States and Europe soon.

    JVC GZ-MG77 Hard Drive Camcorder

JVC GZ-MG77 Hard Drive CamcorderWe were a little confused at first was the JVC Everio GZ-MG77 a hard drive or a DVD camcorder we had to re-read the press release twice. The long and short of it is that it is Hard Drive Camcorder that can burn DVDs without the help of a PC. The only catch is that you need to purchase the optional $200 Share Station.

Users can shoot to their hearts content and until their hard drives fill up of course, use the camera's built in function to select and rearrange scenes, connect to Share Station via USB 2.0 and then burn their movies onto DVDs.

The speed though isn't far from ideal though. For example one hour of video footage takes about 45 minutes to burn to a disc.

The camcorder features a 1/3.9-inch 2.2 megapixel CCD, 10x optical zoom, 30GB of hard disk space and a 2.7-inch LCD. No price point has been announced for its February or March release but we estimate it should retail for about $800-900. The Share Station will be available in April. www.jvc.com.

    JVC GZ-MC500 Camcorder Review

    JVC GZ-MC500 CamcorderPro Review:
Camcorderinfo.com Review the JVC GZ-MC500 Camcorder and they write - 'The GZ-MC500 is a unique camcorder. That is for sure. It combines a hefty price tag with none-tape media and jaw dropping still performance to make JVC’s line of new pocket, hybrid camcorders continue with its array of curiosities. Unfortunately, the camcorder’s low light performance might not be up to par with some of the other contenders in its price range. Be that as it may, for the user really looking for a hybrid camcorder and nothing more, this could be just the thing.

    Video Performance (7.75)
The JVC GZ-MC500 ships with three 1/4.5 inch CCDs with 1.33 MP each. This pixel count is pretty amazing. It is larger than the PV-GS250’s and the PV-GS400. However, while these specs definitely aid the camcorder’s still camera/photo abilities, giving it one of the highest still resolutions of any camcorder we’ve tested, they don’t help in video performance or low light performance as much as you’d expect them to. The GZ-MC500 doesn’t produce video comparable to the PV-GS400 at all, or even the PV-GS250.'

    It's the iPod of Camcorders!

New Everio G Series records more than 10.5 hours of DVD-quality video.

JVC today announced a new series of camcorders that eliminates the need to carry tapes, discs or any media at all, yet can record up to seven hours of DVD movie-quality video. They also record more than 10.5 hours at a quality level comparable to a DVD camcorder’s 30-minute mode. The new JVC Everio G Series camcorders record to a built-in hard disk drive and will be available in 20 and 30 gigabyte (GB) versions, offering unprecedented camcorder storage capacity.

JVC’s initial Everio G offering consists of four models.
