iRiver S10

With all the Apple insanity happening yesterday with new iPod Shuffle, Nano and Video, the strategy used by the Korean company iRiver to present a new MP3 player today (after all the confusion is over) is a good one. The iRiver S10 is the latest product on their line of DAP devices, featuring a D-Click interface and small/stylish look, this can be a good choice for the people that won't buy the latest iPods.

It's really, I mean really light only weighting 17.5 grams, maybe it is the lightest MP3 player around if we don't count with the new iPod shuffle. The S-10 measures 42 x 30 x 10.8mm and has a little OLED screen display measuring 1,15-inches with a 128 x 96 resolution. In terms of storage, the only capacity available on this model is 2GB (positive points vs the shuffle) and supports MP3, OGG, WMA and ASF file formats. Sadly there is no video support like it happens with other iRiver players, but it does support image files using the BMP format.

The battery life of this little player could be better than 8 hours, but I think that if the battery increased so would its size and weight, and in my opinion the first situation is better for everyone. Features FM radio, USB 2.0 to transfer files from a computer to the player and has a voice recording feature as well.

No information about the price or when is it going to be available.

There can be a big battle between the new iPod Shuffle versus iRiver S10 2GB version, each one has its strong and weak points but not knowing the S10 price (for now) gives advantage to the Apple product.
