Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
As the demand for multi-tasking among laptop users increases, the amount of strain on a processor will also increase. As any laptop user knows, operations such as music downloads, video files, and other simple internet functions can result in jamming up the system with freezes and increased wait times.
Intel has met the consumers’ demand with their new Core 2 Duo mobile processors. The processor will be placed in over two-hundred Intel Centrino mobile technology designs, such as laptops and other devices. In fact, the Core 2 Duo processor is already in several PCs like the Intel Viiv technology-based entertainment PC.
The processor was launched in July of this year, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. David Perlmutter, senior vice president of Intel’s Mobility group has said that the Core 2 Duo processor has “doubled the performance, giving consumers and businesses an immersive mobile experience while keeping power consumption and battery life unchangedâ€.
The Core 2 Duo Processor is so named because it relies on two processing cores. These act as the multiple brains of the computer, and successfully work together in order to juggle a variety of functions and drain less power from the laptop.
This is especially good news for those who play MMORPG, or Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Games. Games such as Everquest or World of Warcraft have a way of slowing up, and the Duo Processor can increase the performance for the ever-increasing audience of online gamers who play via laptop. It also improves viewing of high-definition video, as well as speed up the conversions of downloaded songs.
The Intel Core 2 Duo processor comes with the Intel 965 chipset family, and varies in price from $200-700, depending on what model you purchase it for. Whatever the price, it may be a small one to pay in order to enjoy multiple tasking without the long freezes and waits.
