Nokia is really living it up at the CES 2007 and the company has the world drooling with all their new handsets! Another handset creating a buzz at the CES 2007, is the Nokia 6131 NFC handset which can "touch to connect" and is the world's first fully integrated commercial NFC handset. The Nokia 6131 NFC Handset uses Near Field Communications (NFC) technology and makes it possible to share information, initiate consumer services and makes payments and ticketing possible by just one tap of the device. Thus taking the whole mobile experience to a whole new level where interaction is the keyword. The Nokia 6131 NFC in true Nokia style also has a whole bunch of multimedia features. There is the all important 1.3 Megapixel camera with a dedicated camera button and 8x digital zoom. One also comes across a built-in digital music player with microSD card support and FM stereo radio. The Nokia 6131 NFC also has Bluetooth connectivity. No word on pricing or availability, but keep watching this space for updates.

Samsung Demonstrates Mobile WiMax Technology

Samsung is showing off its Mobile WiMAX technology at CES 2007.

Although we've seen demonstrations like this before, it will be the first showcase in the United States. In August of last year Sprint-Nextel afreed to work together on the 4G wireless broadband initiative that adapts WiMAX technology.

The demonstrations will be conducted live through live video conferencing between booths. Push-to-all technology will also be demonstrated along side Samsung's new mobile WiMAX devices (previously featured on MobileWhack) the SPH-P9000 and SPH-M8100. However no announcements have been made if these devices will be made available in the US.

The same technology has been commercially available in South Korea since May of last year, the SPH-P9000 and SPH-M8100 will be available in South Korea sometime in the first half of 2007.

At CES 2007, Samsung occupies booth #11033 at the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The demonstrations will continue until the close of the show.

Fujitsu Siemens LOOX N100 Ultra-portable Navigation Device

Fujitsu Siemens Computers and software provider NAVIGON have announced their newest portable navigation device (PND) the Fujitsu Pocket LOOX N100.

Designed for people on the go, the Loox measures up at 16mm thin and weighs only 110 grams. It is the thinnest and smalles multifunctional PND in the market today. But despite it size it promises "heavyweight performance".

The Fujitsu Siemens LOOX N100 features a 2.8-inch color screen and sports built-in MP3 and video players, a photo viewer and even a couple of games. One draw back though is that its internal lithium-ion battery reportedly lasts only about five hours, however this can be supplemented with the included car charger.

Its navigation features include audio-guided navigating and map displays that show lane information, points of interest, speed limit warnings and road signs. It also features some high end specs like GPS auto-follow in tunnels.

Other accessories include a MiniSD card, car holder, car charger, AC adapter, USB cable, headphones and two face plates.

The Fujitsu Siemens LOOX N100 will begin selling in Spring of 2007 at about $499.

Nokia N800 Internet Tablet PC

Nokia continues to push the boundaries of mobile phone technologies at CES 2007 with the release of its new Nokia N800 Internet Tablet, calling it a "next generation widescreen Nokia Nseries multimedia computer."

Based on Nokia's Linux based Table Operating System, the N800 will allow heavy use of Internet applications such as Internet calling, instant messaging, and email as well as the downloading/streaming of multimedia content.

An improvement of the previously release Nokia 770 Internet Tablet the Nokia N800 promises faster performance, a touch screen qwerty keyboard, an integrated web camera, and support for both WiFi and Bluetooth. Being part of the Nseries also means a more elegant design.

The Nokia N800 is available immediately in the United States and selected markets in Europe at about $399.

Sony UX390N Premium Micro PC

In February 2007, Sony will make available a flash version of the VAIO UX Micro PC, which sold out completely at sonystyle.com. The newest version of the device is the Sony UX390N Premium Micro PC, which comes equipped with everything that the original version did, as well as wireless LAN and WAN access, a complete keyboard, and a 4.5" widescreen display. The major difference between the new UX390N Premium Micro PC and the original VAIO UX Micro PC is that the latest version has a 32GB flash memory drive. The inclusion of the 32GB flash memory drive means faster speeds for booting up, running applications, and writing data to the harddrive. It also means more reliable data storage because there are no moving parts which are more susceptible to damage due to falls and collisions. The lack of a spinning disk also means a longer battery life. The Sony UX390N Premium Micro PC is Windows Vista ready. It will be available in black in February, when it will go on sale for about $2,500.

Samsung m610 On Display at CES

If the other Samsung a727 didn't pleasure all your precious cellphone needs, maybe the new SPH-m610 will do just that and much more. According to Samsung this model (SPH-m610) is currently the thinnest clamshell phone available on the US market, which can be true considering that its dimensions are something like 101 x 52 x 11.9mm. One of the most important things on this mobile device is the use of the Sprint Power Vision EVDO network, making it easy for people to check whatever they want online at an affordable price and considerable speeds. Some of its basic features are the same as the previous Samsung a727, with one exception going to the camera that has 2megapixels instead of 1.3. The screen, transfer methods, and instant messaging services are all the same in both models. On the other hand, while taking a close look there a couple of differences can be noted like the Power SMS or Voice Recognition features, while these are good ones they will probably make the price get $50 more expensive.

We have already covered a high number of iPod docking systems but Creative has presented the best one so far, and of course it was during CES. The new docking system is called Xdock Wireless and as the name suggests the no-wires-system transmits sound via Xi-Fi to wireless receivers that can be located anywhere in your house, be it the living room, bedroom, garden, anywhere. Besides the wireless feature it can also work with wires = being connected to a home theater system or any other kind of audio system to produce DTS surround-sound, it has a line-out for this type of connection. The sound quality while using the Xdock system is one of the most important features, it uses Xtreme Fidelity which is suppose to be better than CD quality sound. The Xdock Wireless comes with a remote control that will work with the iPod and from there you can navigate the iPod menu or adjust any volume levels. Of course that iPod recharging is always a present feature on the docks and this is not an exception with the Xdock. Expect the Xdock Wireless + X-Fi Wireless Receiver system to cost close to $300 and be on the market during the Spring time.

It looks like every 30 minutes a new cellphone is being presented at CES, the cool thing is that all these new cellphones are actually pretty good and use top-notch technology so it with no surprise that Samsungs pops out the new black, stylish and simple SGH-a727, this one isn't actually one of those â€œwowâ€ cellphones but it is good nonetheless. It features a 1.9-inch Colo TFT screen that gives a resolution of 220x176 and has the normal number of 262144 colors. The camera to take photos has 1.3 megapixels and you can transfer the images and other files to your computer via the bluetooth connection or using the USB2.0 system, another way of transferring those files would be to use the mobile e-mail. Other features of the Samsung SGH-a727 include instant messaging services like MSN, Yahoo or AOL so you can chat all you want with your buddies, a document viewer and the most normal option to expand the memory â€“ a micro SD slot. Jabra BT8010 First-Ever Convertible Bluetooth Stereo Headset

Verizon and Samsung have probably enlighten the life of many cellphone users that want to watch TV on their mobile device. Verbatim to Ship 30GB HD DVD-R DL

They just keep getting bigger and bigger. Storage capacities that is. Last week we heard about the first terabyte drive, today Verbatim and (its parent company) Mitsubishi Kagaku Media or MKM announced it will begin shipping a single-sided dual layer HD DVD-R that can store up to 30GB of data. Yes that's not typo its thirty gigabytes of data on a single disc. Verbatim MKM promises that the new high-capacity discs will be available to customers in North America sometime in the first quarter of 2007. These discs were available in Japan since July of last year. You'll need one of those new HD-DVD writers as well.
