HP iPAQ hw6800Will HP release O2 XDA Atom, a Pocket PC phone, under the HP brand? This rumor has some evidence according to someone who actually managed to get hold of the device.

In its re-born avataar the phone is likely to be called the HP iPAQ hw6800, offering base functionality similar to the O2. The body will be enclosed in silver, and one advantage will be the foldable screen as seen with the hw6500 series of iPAQs. This will serve as a nice screen protector.

The XDA sports a 2.7" 240x320 QVGA TFT screen, Bluetooth (v1.2), integrated 802.11b Wireless networking and a 2 megapixel camera with built-in flash. It also has an FM tuner.

Other expected features in the HP version:

  • Quadband GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks
  • GPRS/EDGE connectivity
  • Intel XScale PXA270 416MHz processor
  • 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM
  • Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating System

Memory expansion is possible using the provided miniSD card slot. All this in a package measuring 102 x 58 x 18.5 mm and weighing 150 grams. The release date is pegged at sometime in April this year. Watch HP for more details.
