Another notebook released by HP is the HP Compaq nw8440 Mobile Workstation which would be perfect for the work environment and promises uncompromising performance and functionality. Extremely sleek and lightweight, the notebook is a powerhouse of a performer and promises unrivaled performance.
The HP Compaq nw8440 Mobile Workstation incorporates cutting edge technologies like Intel® Core™ Duo processors and users can opt for either Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional, Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition or FreeDOS as their operating system. The Intel® Core™ Duo processors T2400 to T2600 takes computing and multi tasking to the next level and users can choose between a DVD-ROM; DVD/CD-RW Combo, a DVD+/-RW SuperMulti with Double Layer; or a LightScribe DVD+/-RW with Double Layer.
The HP Compaq nw8440 Mobile Workstation either comes with a 15.4-inch WSXGA+ wide viewing angle display or a 15.4-inch WUXGA wide viewing angle display. The included VGA port supports resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 at 75 Hz, and lower resolutions at up to 100 Hz. However to further enhance the visual experience users can buy the optional HP Docking Station with DVI port that is capable of supporting resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 at both full and reduced blanking, and 1920 x 1200 at reduced blanking. HP also incorporates the celebrated ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 graphics controller with 256 MB of discrete video memory for animated imagery.
Some other state of the art features found on the notebook include; a set of HP ProtectTools which includes TPM Embedded Security Chip, Smart Card Reader, and HP Biometric Fingerprint Sensor6. A HP Mobile Data Protection System for absorbing shock and vibrations, 3 USB 2.0, VGA, mic in, line out, 1394, power, RJ-11, RJ-45, serial port, and S-video TV out, 1 Type I/II PC Card slot which supports both 32-bit CardBus and 16-bit PC Cards and an ADI High Definition CODEC.
