    HP R927 Review

HP.gifDesigntechnica has reviewed the HP Photosmart R927,the latest offering by HP. The HP Photosmart R927 is an 8.2-megapixel point-and-shoot camera with a 3x optical zoom and an incredible 3-inch LCD screen. The camera is extremely stylish too and weighs just about weighs 7.8 ounces. The 3x zoom lens is equivalent to 35-105mm and has a 32MB of internal memory which can be extended via SD Cards. HP to give users more creative control has thrown in a number of special effects like Ink Dots, Watercolor, and Kaleidoscope etc.

Let’s now look at the pros and cons of the HP Photosmart R927:
Pros: Exceptional image quality, Decent LCD screen, Good battery life, and User Friendly Interface.
Cons: Slow video frame rate, Saving large files cumbersome and Accessory dock required to watch videos on TV.

Finally the website concludes in their review “anyone looking for a compact, attractive 8MP point-and-shoot digicam should give this camera serious consideration. Although the R927 had some flaws, the large LCD screen, the great menus, the built-in special effects and—most important—the photos it took put it on the plus side of the ledger. Still for the next go-around HP engineers should figure a way to juice up the time it takes to save a shot. And for God’s sake, put a video out on the supplied dock rather than forcing buyers to shell out another $80 for an accessory".

    HP M425 Digital Camera

HP Photosmart M425 Digital CameraWhat did I tell you? HP is on a digital camera spree at the 2006 CES, and this is proven yet again with the announcement of the HP Photosmart M425 digital camera.

The Photosmart M425 is a point-and-shoot 5 megapixel camera featuring 3x optical zoom and 6x digital zoom. A rather small 1.7" preview LCD screen could have been avoided, instead opting for a 2.5" screen.

With HP Photosmart Express, it's a snap to share photos on Snapfish (no pun intended). The camera has a fast shot mode where you can take pictures of fleeting shots with very little lag. It supports an SD slot to expand on the 16MB available on-board. With the photos, you can take prints up to poster size - good enough for most of us.

While no pricing has been decided, expect the HP M425 around April 2006. More info is available from HP's website.

    HP E327 Digital Camera

HP Photosmart E327 Digital CameraAt the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show, Hewlett-Packard unveiled its new line up of digital cameras with some innovative features to deliver pro-quality images. The new HP E327 digital camera was unveiled as part of this line up.

The HP E327 is a 5-megapixel point-and-shoot camera sporting a small 1.8" LCD preview. With the bundled HP Photosmart Share software, you can email photos easily. What I cannot believe is that the release notes don't say anything about USB 2.0 connectivity. If they are still in the 1.1 era, all I can say is wow.

PictBridge support is provided for PC-free printing. The camera also offers 4x digital zoom, and a paltry 16MB internal memory. You can take prints up to 8" x 10" in size.

Pricing is yet to be decided for the HP E327, slated for a March 2006 release in USA. More info is available from HP's website.
