hitachi5k160.jpgHitachi engineers have just managed to come up with one of the most advanced and reliable mobile hard drive, the Hitachi Travelstar 5K160 160GB 2.5” Serial ATA. Malibal, a world leader in innovative laptop design and development, today announced the Hitachi Travelstar 5K160 as an option on its entire line of notebooks.

The Hitachi 5K160 becomes the first HDD to make use of PMR(perpendicular magnetic recording) technology. It is quiet different from the conventional hard drives which makes recording longitudinally on the surface of the disk. The concept is very much similar to that of the double layer DVD recording and writing. What it does though is provide 5 times the storage density of traditional longitudinal recording with it also increase overall performance. Today's announcement means that the available hard drive space on the Samadhi Series and Satori Series will be doubled to a staggering 320GB. Also the SATA ( serial advanced technology attachment), which has been a revelation since its introduction, makes sure for faster transfer of bytes.

The Travelstar 5K160 SATA HDDs are available now through MALIBAL’s website. All notebooks come with a 1yr parts and labor warranty and 24-hour 365-day USA-Based phone support. Extended warranties are available.
