GIGABYTE GSmart i120 Announced

The Gigabye g-Smart i120 which was first seen doing the rounds of the Asia 3GSM Conference seeks to change this! Smart, sophisticated and sexy, the g-Smart i120 will be lapped up by PDA Lovers who are tired of Nokias and the Blackberrys of the world!

The g-Smart i120 runs on the Windows Mobile5.0 AKU3.0 OS and also comes bundled with Microsoft Messaging & Security Feature Pack (MSFP). The handset is an amalgamation of both style and functionality and one comes across some great multimedia features like; TV Recording which supports NTSC/PAL/Secam and ensures you can catch free terrestrial broadcasting anywhere , anytime. Another nifty feature is the Audio Mixer, where you are the designated DJ and can configure bass, treble, and 3D effect while listing to the music.

Measuring 106.6 × 53.2 × 19.8mm, the handset is equipped with a 2.4 inch, 262k color TFT LCD touch panel and is capable of a Digital Talk Time up to 3.5 hours. What really made me jump from joy was the Wi-Fi capabilities on board in addition to Bluetooth and GPRS! There is a 2 Megapixel camera too with macro function, digital zoom, and video recording. For enhanced functionality, the handset also comes bundled with applications like Pocket MSN, IE, Windows Media Player, PowerPoint Mobile, Excel Mobile and Word Mobile!

The Wise Talk Function is quite an innovative feature and adds come credibility to all those lies you cook up to avoid calls from certain people! Via the Overdub Feature one can stimulate background noises akin to airport or concert. The answering machine option also lets you choose which calls to take and which to avoid. Some other features found on the g-Smart i120 include; FM, E-mail, SMS, MMS, MSN Messenger, Windows Mobile Direct Push, NOR 256MB + SDRAM 64MB etc. No word on pricing or availability and for more info head over here.

Gibabyte g-Smart i200 & i300 PDA Phones

gSmart-i200.jpgAsia is the place to be when it comes to the latest in ground breaking mobile phone technology. So journalists pay extra attention to tech events like the Asia 3GSM Conference.

Among the notable PDA Phones on display were these ones (see below) by PC part manufacturer Gibabyte who has ambitiously decided to enter the PDA market.

The most basic of these models is the g-Smart i200 PDA Phone. Set for a Q1 2007 launch, it comes built in with a DVD-H/DVD-T receiver and will run on the upcoming version of Windows Mobile (code named Crossbow) which should be ready in time for the i200's launch. Other features include a USB 2.0 port and 512MB of onboard memory.

The g-Smart i300 is embedded with a GPS receiver, a 2MP digital camera and comes with a Bluetooth headset that can double as security device. This one will run Windows Mobile 5.0, is powered by an Intel PXAA270 520MHz processor and supports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB 2.0. Expect the i300 in before the end of the year.

Currently available in select markets are the g-Smart i120 which comes with a TV antenna and recorder, and the g-Smart i128 which claims to be the first TV roaming mobile PDA phone in the world.

FCC Approves O2s XDA Stealth

xda-stealth.jpgGotta love the FCC! They have now approved the Gigabyte XDA Stealth which is a new phone and uses Windows Mobile 5 as its O.S. As of now details are sketchy but we know that it includes a 2.4” QVGA touch-display, a 5-way navigation key, built-in miniUSB, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth and 2-megapixel camera with LED light. The new XDA Stealth would also include a music player with dedicated controls.

This triband GSM handset sports a slim slider design and draws it juice from the Intel PXA 272 416MHz processor. Measuring 110 x 53 x 22.5mm and weighing around 150gr, the Stealth provides relief from the other bulky smartphones. Other features include; 92MB ROM, 64MB RAM; miniSD slot for memory and a Video Recorder. No word on pricing or availability and this one would be launched on the O2 network.

Gigabyte Keroro Mobile Phone for Kids

You get a mobile phone for your kids to make sure they are safe at all time but what phone are you aiming at? Gigabyte might have a solution for you; they unveiled the new Gigabyte Keroro phone especially for the kids. Keroro is based on the Japanese manga cartoon, Keroro Gunso. The slider green phone with cartoon drawing on it boasts a 2-inch color screen with resolutions of 176 x 220, 1.3 megapixel of camera, 128MB of RAM, MP3 player and miniSD memory card slot. I don't think such a simple phone requires any RAM to push up its operating usage. Keroro is a limited edition phone with only 2000 of it being in production. No words on the pricing or availability yet.

Gigabyte g-Smart i at CEBIT

1_ridimensionare.JPGWell, the CeBIT is over but still the news keeps flowing in. One of the models we just dug out was the new g-Smart i phone from Gigabyte. Gigabyte, one of the leading manufacturers of the computer pheripherals nad electronics, today announced its new pocket PC phone, the g-smart i mobile phone for Europe. The slim looking phone boasts of a sturdy look and also very light in weight but is packed with wide range os applications, which is expected as it runs on Mobile Windows 5 (AKU 2,0) Operating System

The g-smart i PDA phone is a TriBand 900/180071900MHz GSM phone with GPRS capablities. Whats incredible is, it comes with a default of 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM and with an mini SD slot provided, you ca always increase the capacity. Like most of the PDA phones in the business today, not surprisingly it has gone for a TFT LCD, 2,4"to 262.000 colors QVGA and is also powered by a 2.1 MegaPixel camera. On the connectivity side of it, the phone boasts of Wi-Fi 802.11b and Bluetooth 1.2, which now more or less found in most of the High-end phones. Also included are Analogic receiver TV and Integrated radio FM making, just to make sure that the user does not get into boredom.

The Gigabyte g-Smart i, will hit the stores at the end of May and don't expect the phone to be cheaper than $600. For more information visit www.gigabyte.com
