What'd I tell you? Intel brings out some new technology (in this case the Intel Centrino Duo), and manufacturers line up in droves to bring out some of the coolest products based on it. This time, it's Gateway with its new NX860 laptop based on the Duo platform running the Core Duo processor that boasts two execution cores for seamless multitasking.

With the improved system bandwidth and performance, the NX860 comes in a surprisingly light package (just 6 pounds) and a delicious 17" widescreen display enhanced by NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or 7800 mobile GPU as an option. Of course, SATA hard drives can't be left behind.

The NX860 in particular is a boon to gamers and those in the video industry - as it is quite capable of digital rendering and photo/video editing. Security is not of concern, which is taken care by the TPM 1.2-ready hardware for encryption and password management.
