pt-zumolf-lg.jpgGarmin International Inc today unveiled the zumo, motorcycle navigation device which promises to be the last name in functionality and convenience. This new device has been released keeping in mind the upcoming MotoGP U.S. Grand Prix at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. The Garmin zumo has a glove-friendly design and for more convenience sports a large 3.5-inch (diagonal) high-bright, sunlight readable touch screen display which is also housed in waterproof casing

The zumo features left-handed controls and has Bluetooth "hands-free-to-helmet" wireless technology capability. The onboard GPS receiver is highly sensitive and doesn’t lose signal even in heavy foliage or a populated urban city. The onboard solid state memory has been designed to dilute the effects of vibration, shock, cold, heat and all the parts of the GPS device can withstand extreme vibrations. The zumo is preloaded with full North American data and millions of points of interests like hotels, restaurants, gas stations etc. The onboard Bluetooth technology also lets user access their mobile phones and indulge in hands free calling and also receive turn-by-turn voice prompts.

The Garmin zumo is mounted on the motorcycle securely via the locking mount which has waterproof power and data cable connections and the zumo is powered by rechargeable user-removable lithium-ion battery (three hour typical use). One can also record their rides via the 10-thousand point track log and it also displays vital info like speed, heading, and a customizable fuel gauge. One can also receive Real-time traffic updates via the M RDS-TMC (Traffic Message Channel) traffic receiver or XM NavTraffic (U.S. only) receiver and the device is compatible with Garmin's Tour Guide, Garmin Travel Guides(TM), and SaversGuide.
