Garmin Mobile Electronics has yet to formally announce its newest version of the Nuvi GPS. This model, the 660, is predicted to be announced by Garmin before October, and may possibly reach stores before this holiday season.

The FCC states that the newest model will come with an FM transmitter. It is suspected that the transmitter is meant to broadcast vocal directions via the driver’s FM radio/stereo. Like the Nuvi 360, the 660 will come with Bluetooth capability. It will also be compatible with the GTM 20 and GTM 21 traffic receivers to help drivers avoid traffic-congested areas. Other features will include connections for an external antenna as well as connections for headphones or speakers. The screen also promises to be wider at 4.3 inches (480x272 pixels).

The FCC believes that Garmin will formally announce its release in the near future.
