Garmin GPSMAP 4012 and GPSMAP 4008 Marine GPS
Garmin needs no introduction in the navigational world and the company over the years has released a lot of critically acclaimed products. Now Garmin has once again taken the plunge in the marine world and has released a revamped set of chart-plotters, sonar, and charting which are capable of satellite photo-generated cartography.
The Garmin 4000 Series of Chart-plotter includes new models like GPSMAP(R) 4012 and GPSMAP 4008 which can be categorized under' Garmin's new multifunction displays (MFDs). Both the models come pre-loaded with an enhanced worldwide satellite imagery basemap and high resolution photomapping capabilities. The onboard BlueChart(R) g2 Vision(TM) technology helps in achieving true "mariner's eye view" above water or a "fish eye" underwater perspective in 3D and the g2 Vision data are also capable of auto guidance technology on compatible units.
The GPSMAP 4008 is equipped with a 8.4-inch VA screen without the keypad. where as the 4012 with a 2.1-inch diagonal XGA display with an alphanumeric keypad for easy data entry. For an intuitive navigational experience, Garmin has incorporated eight vertically placed "soft keys" on both the units. Users will also dig the sleek ergonomics of the models.
The Garmin 4000 Series provides a complete networking solution to the user as one comes across the proprietary Garmin Marine Network. This Marine Network consists of GPS, radar, XM WX Satellite Weather, sonar and both GPSMAP 4212 and GPSMAP 4208 come re- loaded with detailed U.S. coastal charts - including detailed data for the Bahamas, including Explorer Charts.
