g-Smart i200
Gigabyte may be an unknown entity in many parts of the world but the Taiwanese company is known for producing PC Components. They have ventured into the mobile world and recently they unveiled the Gigabyte g-Smart i200 PDA-phone at the 3GSM Asia World Congress.
The handset may look like the iPod's long lost cousin but it has a very innovative feature set! The i200 will include a built-in DVB-H receiver and in all probability a DVB-T receiver chip as well. Apart from its cool design one will also come across features like a VGA display, limited recording capabilities and 512MB of onboard memory. The forthcoming Windows Mobile (codenamed Crossbow) operating system has been selected as the OS and the phone looks to be a blend of a PDA and a Multimedia handset.
While all these features may sound very run of the mill, the g-Smart i200 has already scored some brownie points for features like the Noise Generator. Via this cool feature the phone produces a sound when a call is answered to create the effect of the desired surroundings for the other party. So if you fib that you are in a meeting the handset will play the sound of someone talking in the background! One can also reject calls and then the phone automatically sends a preset SMS message like "call you back. Not bad huh since now those alibis may just sound more genuine! The handset will be available by next year and keep watching this space for more developments.
