Find nearly anything with the loc8tor
This is definitely one of the coolest gadgets that I've seen in some time. Loc8tor Ltd. will be coming out with their "loc8tor" device at the International CES in January of 2006. Now what exactly is the loc8tor you might ask? It's essentially a device that helps you locate tagged items that have been misplaced.
In order for the loc8tor to locate items, you need to first tag these items. Things to tag could be your keys, your wallet, your laptop computer - really anything you find important or valuable. The tags themselves are postage sized measuring 19.5mm W x30.5mm H x 8.5mm D. Once you've tagged an item, you register the item with the loc8tor.
The loc8tor has two modes of operations - a Locate mode which will help you find the tagged items and an Alert mode which notifies you when an item has left a set of predefined boundaries. When you've lost something and you want to locate it, the loc8tor will help you find it by providing directional, audio, visual, and vibration cues, guiding you to within one inch of the item.
There will be two models available - a $99.99 model which simply tracks things down and a $169.99 model which will provide you alerts when things have moved beyond their boundaries. Check out the product page for additional information. Via Mobility Today.
