EchoStar PocketDISH Portable Media Players
EchoStar is jumping into the portable media player business with the introduction of the PocketDISH players. These rebranded Archos Technology devices are designed to work hand in hand with EchoStar's DISH Network set-top boxes. There will be three new models coming out from EchoStar ranging from a $329 2.2 inch screen to a $599 7 inch screen PMP.
EchoStar, earlier this year, purchased a 25% stake in Archos Technology which resulted in the rebranding of several Archos players for the PocketDISH product lineup. The new PMP's will also be able to play back music and photos and even provide games to the user. DISH Network owners can easily transfer videos from their set-top boxes to the pocketDISH device via a USB connection.
