digg_3.jpgLondon company B1TE Entertainment has launched a free Java mobile application, aiming to offer users rich Digg browsing functionality on their mobile devices. The service is available at http://www.b1te.com/mobile_digg.html from today.
Digg Java Mobile allows quick access to popular and upcoming stories, filtered by most popular, topic or subtopic. Individual stories can then be viewed using Google Mobile Web, or bookmarked and sent as a link to the users email address for desktop browsing.

It also aims to reduce data bills for users by compressing Digg story feeds by a ratio of about 5-1.

”Digg Java Mobile allows Diggaholics to keep up with the huge turnover of Digg stories when away from their home computers”, said Matt Brooke-Smith, founder and CEO of B1TE Entertainment.

”As well as presenting the familiar Digg interface, compression and bookmarking, it has potential to offer many other functions in the future, including support for submitting stories and Digg votes, as well as notification for stories posted by friends. It’s a great example of how J2ME can be used to add to the user experience given by WAP or XHTML pages".

Digg Java Mobile uses J2ME technology to provide a mobile client with compatibility over a large number of handsets. In fact every Java enabled mobile with a data/wap contract will be able to use the application.

The application is available for free download by going to the site wap.b1te.com on a mobile phone WAP browser.
