Dell Recalls Laptop Batteries

dell latitude d410.jpgIf you're an owner of a Dell laptop or notebook - listen up! Dell and the US Consumer Products Safety Commission have announced a recall of 35,000 notebook batteries that can potentially pose a fire risk. 22,000 of these batteries were sold in the U.S.

No one has been injured thus far by these faulty batteries but there have been three reports of damage to table tops and desks as a result of the issue at hand. The recall affects certain Dell notebooks sold between October 5th, 2004 and October 13th, 2005.

If you purchased one of the following systems, you might need a new battery: Dell Latitude models D410, D505, D510, D600, D610, D800, and D810; Inspiron models 510M, 600M, 6000, 8600, 9200, and 9300; the XPS Generation 2 notebook; and Precision M20 and M70 mobile workstations. Not sure if you are affected still? Call 1-866-342-0011 and make sure to have the ID number stamped on the back of your battery.
