VARBusiness Magazine has recently bestowed upon the D-Link DPH-540 Wi-Fi Phone the “Tech Innovator Product of the Year” award.

The D-Link DPH-540 is a flip phone that has Wi-Fi 802.11 capability, along with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The VoIP option gives a user the option of using a phone without a wireless network, all they need as an open hotspot to the Internet. Therefore, a customer can choose what type of communication they can use, and can save money by not using a cellular phone network.

Unforutnately, users of the D-Link DPH-540 must set up an Internet Phone Service in order to use both the VoIP service plan. D-Link has announced plans to ship its new V-CLICK dual phone early next year. The V-CLICK phone allows users to switch from a cell phone network and VoIP with a touch of a button. Looks like D-Link hasn’t stopped innovating, even after they’ve already won an award.
