Earworm Assault Devices From Fur

earworm.jpg
No this is not for your kids! Have you ever heard of this weird ass concept of Earworm assault device? No right? If you have, atleast even in the wildest of your dreams, then you deserve to be in either Hollywood or in "Fur". Well, "FUR", creators of the Painstation and Furminator, have just released about their project, Earworm Assault Devices. And also to baffle you more, this is a pretty old concept as well.

Sound is unavoidable (the ear can’t be shut like the eye) and evolutionary hardwired into our cognition apparatus. A well made sound can get stuck in the head of the hearer and loop for a varying time span. The infected person oftentimes repeats the sound involuntarily by singing, humming or whistling, eventually spreading the ear worm like a virus. The Earworm Assault Devices (EAD) enable individuals or small groups to distribute their own earworms. Small pieces of highly infectious sound or music can be recorded onto the devices and fired at single or multiple persons, eventually spreading your message out into the world. Currently the devices that are displayed are available.

Skywalker Jet Packs : It Works!

skywalker_jet_pack.jpgRichard Herron is a mad man? According to him, he is only a mad man if he fails, a genius when he succeeds. He invented the Skywalker jet that weighs around 40.91 kg and is able to fly for about five minutes with the basic configuration. The production model of jet pack is capable of flying up to ten minutes and has a range of 4 miles (6.436 kilometers), and it also has an integrated global positioning system to compliment the pack. Last week, he put a proto-type jet pack in eBay for auction and the highest bidding goes to 515dw with the price of USD10,399. The proto-type jet pack has 8 AT-450 turbine engines and will be able to carry a pilot with a weight of over 95.45 kg, flying for about 5 minutes. In the end of production, the frame will be made from carbon fiber, and be much stronger and better looking than the proto-type. In the helmet there will be a heads up display with a timer to show the time of flight, as well as engine warning information. Have you ever wonder how do people move around in the near future?

Rubik’s Cube Robot Solves in 15 Seconds

Check out this video of a robot created by Evan Gates which will be able to solve a scrambled Rubik's Cube in just 15 seconds. Sometimes, technology still can't beat human's mind. One of the Caltech student, Leyan Lo, solved a cube on January 24 2006 in 11.13 seconds. If you can make it less than that, do let us know.

High-Tech Pen Calculator

This technology is very impressive but the calculator is more of a gimmick than useful. A more reasonable application of this technology would be for one to be able to simply write out the problem 65 x 32 = (etc.) and have the calculator voice then answer the question (2080). Enjoy the video!

How-To : CMoy Power Mini Amplifier

diyamp2.jpgCheck out this DIY portable mini amplifier built by Chu Moy which is also known as CMoy Pocket Amplifier. It can be fit in a lozenge tin and into your pocket. It is powerful enough to drive your weak sources sound to thunderous volumes. Since it's so powerful, will it burn or blow up in your pocket? Who knows, technical failure may lead to unwanted things to happen. Chu Moy was able to pack everything in the CMoy Pocket Amplifier for just USD20 and a better one with the price of USD50. According to Chu Moy, you won't need to understand how the am or its components works, but you will have to be able to follow some pretty exact directions. I plan to try it out one day.

Super Sky Cycle : Flying Motorcycle

_chopper_2.jpg

Former test pilot Larry Neal of Boyd, Texas created this awesome flying machine called the Super Sky Cycle (basically a flying bike - technically a cross between a motorcycle and an autogyro). The flying bike goes as fast as 70 mph in the air and 60 mph on the road, and sells for around USD25 grand. I'm not sure how government going to license that thing.

    Jim Mason’s V8 Blender

    blenderbw.jpg
Ever heard of blender powered by V8 engine? It runs on an electric motor that actually moves the pistons up and down in a normal fashion at very high speed - a tank of propane supplies the flames. There is also a stick shifter to control speeds in typical 4-speed auto configuration. If i have this at my home, I’m going to have a V8 car party every night!

Stridelite Strobe-Lite Night Gear For Athletes

Bright Night StrobeLite Night GearHow many times have you been out on a midnight job and accidently plowed into someone because they couldn't see you in the dark? Things could be even more damaging if you were cycling. Imagine that.

Which is why Bright Night USA has developed the new StrideLite and CycLite line of night-clothing for runners and cyclists. Most such clothing have reflective strips, but Bright Night included a built-in strobe-light Electro-Luminescence (EL) strip that virtually lights up the person wearing it, making him or her visible in complete darkness.

The strips don't add weight to the fabric - they are just 24 microns thick, highly flexible and durable as well.

Available for both men and women in soft-shell and hard-shell jackets, belts and vests, the price range is between US $150-$190 for jackets. Throw in an extra 30 bucks for the belt. You can also get an umbrella. Access StrideLite for details.

    T-Qualizer T-Shirt

T-QualizerNice job done here by Gadget-Box with the T-Qualizer, a T-shirt with a built-in sound-sensitive graphic equalizer - and it actually lights up to the music beats! Of course, the battery required to run the equalizer display is maintained in a pocket inside the shirt.

Wouldn't that be something? You wear it and go out to a party, and people are checking you out to see how well the DJ is mixing his music. The T-Shirt is made of cotton and features an Electro-Luminescence (EL) panel. The equalizer is very similar to the one on your home stereo - with different equalizer bars for differnt frequencies.

Get yours for US $32 (available in Small, Medium and Large), and be the life, err, sound of the party! Details from Gadget-Box.

Kaya Optics PF4 Gives You See Through Powers

Kaya Optics 52mm PF4 FilterI can't believe a product like this exists it should be band everywhere, Kaya Special Optics now gives you X-ray vision, in the form of the new Infrared See-through Filter PF. Able to penetrate an object's surface, it actually allows you to see what's underneath.

Of course, you also know that this will come with all sorts of regulations - I doubt if they'll ever allow you to use it on the streets. The 52mm PF4, when used with a compatible camcorder (or any CCD for that matter) allows you to create a See-Through system.

I bet this thing will be banned in several countries in the days to come. Details at Kaya Optics
