Computer-On-a-Stick Pro
Nope! This is no run of the mill flash drive....it's a Computer On a Stick.
Yep. This pro version of the original Computer-On-a-Stick (COS) launched 6 months ago is the world's first bootable USB flash drive. Running it's own Linux-based operating system, the device bypasses Windows and mounts the PC's hard drives allowing users to access files stored on their system.
COS is also bundled with OpenOffice, for immediate editing of Microsoft Word or Excel documents, as well as Firefox, Evolution Mail, and an Instant Messenger client for all your internet related tasks. Startup takes less than 10 seconds while shut down takes only 3.
The Pro Edition is available online for $159 (512MB) and $199 (1GB). The device supports USB 2.0 transfer. Larger capacity models are in the works as well as a Mac compatible version. It is also being demoed at CES 2006. Nice one fingergear.
