Cingular 8500 and 8525 Phones
Cingular wises up. With what appears to be updates for the recent 8100 and 8125 smartphones; today the mobile website announced the future releases of the 8500 and the 8525.
Both of the high speed 8500 & 8525 devices, run on the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform(which allows use of Mozilla and Java ), and are certified for use over diverse networks such as GSMâ„¢/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/or HSDPA.
The phones measure in at 112.5 mm(L) x 58 mm(W) x 21.95 mm(T), weighing 176 g with battery. The 2.8 inch QVGA, TFT-LCD screen, displays 64K colors.
The 8500/8525 claim to handle “enhanced†xHTML and wCSS browsing innovatively well and are equipped with a full slide out QWERTY keypad.
The phones also run with 802.11g WIFI and Bluetooth capabilities, Removable Media MiniSD for expansion, and a Flash Memory of 64MB with 128MB Memory of SRAM.
Supported graphic formats include GIF-JPEG-JFIF- or PNG, audio formats like AMR-SP MIDI-Standard MIDI-AAC, and video format support for MPEG4- H.263- 3GP- 3G2.
Cingular’s 8525 varies from the 8500; having a 2 Mega Pixel Camera, Fix Lens, Camcorder and Flash. Camera has a digital zoom of 2X,4X, and 8X. The video recorder shoots 6 frames per second.
Release is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. (Think Christmas gift)
