Cingular introduced its spanking new Cingular 2125 Smartphone featuring Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0. The 2125 is a quad-band world phone with support for EDGE networks for high-speed data access.
Measuring in at 4.32 inches (L) x 1.84 inches (W) x 3/4 inch (T), though not a super-compact phone, the Cingular 2125 is light, weighing just 3.71 ounces including battery. Powered by a 200 MHz TI OMAP 850 processor, it provides 64MB SDRAM and 64MB Flash ROM. The large 2.2" QVGA color TFT screen looks inviting, but for the 64k color support.
With support for Microsoft Exchange Server and e-mail access with Outlook Mobile, the Cingular 2125 is a feature-packed phone for business professionals. With the device, you can seamlessly access Cingular Xpress Mail and MSN Hotmail. Users can also enjoy benefits of MMS to send photos or video clips.
Bluetooth 1.2 and Infrared are a couple of wireless standards supported, with Mini-USB taking the wired connectivity. Multimedia features include Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, a stereo headset jack (yum!) and a 1.3 megapixel cam for both digital still images and videos.
When Cingular brings out its direct push e-mail service (targeted during the first half of 2006), this phone is software-upgradeable for the Messaging and Security Feature Pack. Compatible with GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks, you can take along this phone across more than 165 countries.
Costing US $199 (for a 2-year contract) Cingular 2125 can be purchased online from Cingular's website.
