CCD fault in Canon camerasCanon has revealed that there is a problem in some of the Charge Coupled Devices (CCDs) used by Canon USA and Asia Digital Camera and Digital Video Camera products. The CCD problems end up causing images to be distorted or to not appear at all. Under high temperature/high humidity environments, the internal wiring may come undone in some areas of the CCD.

If the CCD is faulty, you will see the following symptoms on your Canon LCD:

  • Digital images do not appear
  • Digital images appear to be distorted.

    The following is a list of cameras and camcorders affected by this faulty CCD:

    Digital Cameras:
    PowerShot A60, PowerShot A70, PowerShot A75, PowerShot A300, PowerShot A310, Digital IXUS V3, Digital IXUS II and Digital IXUS IIs.

    Digital Video Cameras:
    MV600i, MV630i, MV650i, MV700i, MV730i, MV750i, MV5i, MV5i MC, MV6i MC, ZR60, ZR65 MC, ZR70 MC, ZR80, ZR85, ZR90, Elura 40 MC
    and Elura 50

  • If you own one of the above devices and are suffering from the same symptoms, contact the nearest Canon Service Center. Free repairs will be made for products in cases where it has been confirmed that the internal CCD wiring has become undone. Canon will also cover the cost of shipping and handling in connection with this repair.
