canon-a640.jpgThe new Canon Powershot A640 Digital Camera is a 10 Mega-Pixel beast with 4x Digital zoom and 4x optical zoom, producing a whopping 16x in combination. The Canon A640 is a 1/1.8-inch type 10 Mega-Pixel CCD with a wide 2.5-inch vari-angle type LCD monitor.

The Canon Powershot A640 camera is powered by a DIGIC II imaging processor, which allows fast processing and high definition imaging without damaging the quality of the images. It also features a view finder which can be used to conserve power when needed by turning off the LCD monitor. With the powerful 4x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 7.3–29.2 mm (35 mm film equivalent 35–140 mm), you can shoot far off subjects by bringing them much closer. The Canon A640 offers consumers various shooting modes, Single Shot, Continuous Shooting, Self-timer (10 sec., 2 sec., Custom) and can select from various ISO speeds in either auto or manual modes. Users can set various shutter speeds from High ISO Auto, ISO 80, ISO 100, ISO 200, ISO 400, and ISO 800 equivalent.

The Canon Powershot A640 camera comes with a 32MB of internal memory and comes equipped with a SD memory card slot and consumers can make use of SD memory, SDHC memory card or MultiMedia Card as the recording media. With 10 Mega-Pixels and 4x optical zoom going hand in hand, one can take images up-to resolutions of 3648 x 2736 pixels. Video recording can be done with 640 x 480 pixels and recording can continue until the memory card is full. Other features include Pict-Bridge, USB2.0 interface , PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) and Histogram Function.

The Canon Powershot A640 package includes 4 AA-size Alkaline Batteries, AV Cable AVC-DC300, Interface Cable IFC-400PCU, CD-ROM and Wrist Strap WS-200. The new PowerShot A640 camera will hit the shelves this October for estimated selling prices of $399.99. Check here for more details.
