Canon PC170 Portable Personal Copier For Copying On-the-Go
For mobile users, Canon has unleashed its new portable copier, the Canon PC170. Capable of delivering high quality black-and-white copies, the PC170 is available in a lightweight and compact design, making it easy to lug it around for trade shows or business meetings.
At first looks, it seems like a briefcase - it's even got a handle for easy carrying. The Canon PC170 implements Canon's RAPID fusing system for instant warm-up, which means there's no time lost in waiting for the copying to start. Once warmed up, the personal copier can deliver up to 4 copies per minute (letter-sized paper).
The copier also comes with a 50-sheet tray, and accepts postcard and letter sized paper. It can copy onto transparencies and colored paper as well. If left unused for 5-1/2 minutes, it shuts down automatically to conserve the battery.
Priced at US $149, the Canon PC170 personal copier will be available in Q4 2006.

With no warm-up time required, the Canon PC170 can begin copying immediately at speeds of up to four copies-per-minute (cpm) for letter-size paper and comes equipped with a 50-sheet stack tray that accepts postcard to letter-size paper.
The new Canon PC170 offers virtually maintenance-free operation with Canon's exclusive Single Cartridge System, containing the drum, development unit and toner, for performance that requires little-to-no maintenance at just pennies-per-copy.
The Canon PC170 personal copier also offers tremendous versatility, copying onto a variety of papers, including stationary, postcards, colored paper, transparencies and labels. Copy quality is exceptional with a choice of automatic or manual exposure and automatic shut-off.
In order to effectively conserve energy, Canon has built an automatic shut-off function into the Canon PC170, designed to automatically turn off the copier after idling unused for 5 1/2 minutes. These energy-saving attributes enable the Canon PC170 to meet the ENERGY STAR® guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. The EPA established the International ENERGY STAR Program in 1992 to help prevent global warming by promoting the development and use of energy-efficient products.
