For those who can’t afford all those new HD Camcorders (like me) can always seek comfort in the new entry-level DVD (-R/-RW) camcorder. The Canon DC95 not only promises affordability but also functionality and one can directly record their footage to the disc itself. Canon is very sure about the camcorder’s wide screen capabilities and promise that the CCD is capable for capturing panoramic footage which can be then later enjoyed on a widescreen TV.

The interface has been designed keeping in mind first time users and via the one push button, the user can select between 16:9 and standard 4:3 shooting. It includes a 25x optical (770x digital) zoom lens with Electronic Image Stabilization and variable zoom speeds. For maintaining image quality in any condition, Canon has also incorporated the renowned proprietary DIGIC DV image processor. Users can capture and view their footage via the 2.7 inch widescreen colour LCD screen (112,000 pixels). The new Canon DC95 should see a release anytime soon and it should retail around £300.
